Safety

Safety on Profound is not optional. Every user has the same baseline obligations — be honest, be kind, and protect minors — and we put real engineering and human review behind enforcing them.

How to report

  • In-call. Tap or click the Report flag in the call header. You stay anonymous to the other party.
  • From a profile. Open the profile and choose Report.
  • By email. safety@getprofound.net is monitored.
  • Immediate danger. Contact local emergency services first, then report on Profound when safe.

What happens after a report

  1. Your report writes a record visible only to our Trust & Safety team.
  2. An automated trigger emails the on-call reviewer immediately.
  3. Reports tagged minor at risk, CSAM suspected, sexual content, self-harm, or violence are flagged HIGH PRIORITY and reviewed within hours.
  4. While we investigate, we may apply a safety hold on accounts (no messaging, booking, or call-joining) and we may permanently disable accounts found to be violating our rules.
  5. Suspected child sexual exploitation is escalated to NCMEC's CyberTipline and to law enforcement as required.

Blocking

You can block any user from your message thread or their profile. Blocking removes their visibility into your profile and prevents them from messaging or booking you. Blocking is independent of reporting — please do both when something feels wrong.

Parental consent for teens (13–17)

  • Teens must enter a parent or guardian email at signup. We send a signed link to that email; until the parent confirms, the teen's account is restricted.
  • Restricted accounts can't book sessions, send messages, or join video calls.
  • Parents can revoke consent at any time; revocation puts the account back into a restricted state.

Our safety commitments

  • Age gate at signup. No one under 13. Experts must be 18+.
  • Verifiable parental consent for 13–17 students.
  • Server-side enforcement of restricted-state access controls.
  • Per-session video tokens that we tie to the session and the participant.
  • Human review of every report; HIGH PRIORITY review for child-safety incidents.
  • Zero tolerance for CSAM. We report. We do not negotiate.
  • Clear, versioned Terms and Privacy that we re-prompt you to read on changes.
